Please note, Arnie's does seem to attract Dog Groomers who seemingly come to us to retire or decide to have a career change right after being hired. A Day In The Life of an Arnie's Dog Stylist
Our stylists usually groom about 4-5 dogs a day depending on breed, size and hair length.
An average day goes like this:
- Arrive 15 minutes before the start of your shift to prepare for the day. Read Grooming notes, clean tools, prepare grooming room etc.
- Your first dog will check in and you would perform a brief consultation with the client where you'd discuss haircut, lengths, any behavior issues etc.
- You'd be given about 90, 120 or 150 minutes for that one dog depending on breed, size and hair length. We do not have any overlap or "conveyor belt" like system at Arnie's.
- Once the dog is 15 minutes from being finished, you send a automated pick up text to the customer informing them that the dog is ready and they should make their way back.
- And the day pretty much goes like that. Appointment only, one dog in, one dog out, think of it like a hairdressers for dogs.
- At the end of the day, you take part in a bit of joint cleaning so the spa is always up to hygiene levels and then go home.

Arnie's was founded 5 years ago and since then it's been non stop! Clients and our team have really bought into what we're trying to build and we've been incredible successful.
Our success has allowed us to expand not once but twice in 3 years. We took over the spot next door in April 2022 and we now have another branch in South Salt Lake, which is where you would be working.
Clients and Dog Groomers love our 1-on-1 approach, appointment only scheduling, and separate grooming rooms. We are able to offer a consistent commission based salary due to how busy we are and we stay busy throughout the year.
The owner and founder is foremost a Dog Groomer herself so knows first hand the challenges and struggles of this profession.

Responsibilities
- Perform dog grooming and services in a professional and timely manner, adhering to our animal cruelty-free policy.
- Clean pet facilities (e.g. vacuuming, mopping, cleaning the bathroom, etc.)and perform other duties as assigned.
- Communicate with clients with excellent customer service (e.g. Provide a quick but detailed consultation before and after the grooming appointment)
- Maintain equipment in good condition
- Ensure all safety and sanitation standards are maintained
- Able to work 1 Saturday in 4. You are given a day off in the week to compensate.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as dog groomer or other related role (2+ years)
- Ability to work with dogs of All Breeds/All Sizes.
- Ability to perform high quality, breed standard haircuts.
- A knowledge of pet grooming techniques and equipment needed for dog groomers to perform proper care procedures on clients' pets
- Comfortable with keeping a clean work area; tidy appearance; sanitary work habits
- Ability to remain calm during grooming sessions; communicate effectively; pay attention to detail; don't miss anything during grooming sessions; communicate with clients and colleagues.
- Flexibility to work full time with every third Saturday a possibility as well.
- Certification from a dog groomer school or graduating from a dog groomer training program is preferred but not required
